le meridien zhengzhou – part 2

I have already done a post on the lobby and exterior of this new hotel from Neri Hu design and Research Office for Starwood under the Le Meridien brand. This one, I will show you the restaurants and rooms. There are 3 restaurants on offer, Chinese, Japanese and international cuisines. There is a recurring theme in all of them with the use of dark greys, bronze mash, cherry timbers and fresh lime and teal, with the geometry giving an ordered, business-like formality.

The rooms and corridors play with the notion of chiaroscuro – the moment between light and dark. The rooms are dark and textural and the bathrooms fresh and feminine. One must feel on show in the bathrooms. I love the organic punchy carpet that looks like a street map and the moody corridors are wonderfully dramatic.
