Drift House in Port Fairy, on the west Victorian Coast is a property of contrasts. Consisting of only 4 very private and entirely self-contained suites each with an individual design. Is it a B & B or a boutique hotel? Designed by Multiplicity, there is a very sensitive expression of the original bluestone house juxtaposed with a contemporary extension clad in a perforate metal skin with a glass link joining the two buildings. The use of natural materials, salvaged timber, grey linen, crisp white, abstract wall murals and bold colour in unusual places creates a vibe of a thoughtfully design artist residence.
The art walls and contemporary furniture brings a level of sophistication to this rural retreat. Whilst the rustic textures firmly grounds the experience in the honesty of the vernacular setting.
