ovolo boutique style in honkers

On a recent trip to Honkers, I checked out the funky, young boutique hotel brand Ovolo. With recent acquisitions of award winning hotels in OZ, such as 1888 by Cressida Kennedy of Space Control Design,  the Blue Hotel (formerly W Sydney) and a new Ovolo Laneway in Melbourne, I thought it worth a squiz at one of the 5 properties of this hip brand in the motherland. I stayed at the Flagship, 43 room, Ovolo Central, designed by Hong Kong firm, KplusK Associates. It’s super close to all the funky bars on Hollywood Rd and the party strip of Lan Kwai Fong. This brand’s “select service” offering is all you need in a location like this, with so many cool bars and restaurants at your doorstep. You wont be wanting to waste time watch the telly in your room!

The coppery finishes, cowhide patchwork rug and marble bathroom gave the room enough style that you don’t miss the lack of artwork or a useless bed throw. I like the regular bed instead of the standard check Sealy ensembles, most hotels have. The bench seat in the shower is a good idea, if you are waking up from a night on at LKF bars. Everything in the room is included, Nespresso,  Wi-Fi, snacks…. and quite a few take home extra goodies, even the minibar is free. Yep, free minibar!!! The in room branding is really cute too. Like a lot of Honkers skinny hotels, it has just 2 rooms a floor, and they are around 30m2.

The Southside Ovolo (other side of the main island), looks pretty funky as well, and what an awesome outlook…… maybe next visit, if I need to chill a bit.
